Major road cordoned off after 'car and motorbike crash'

A major road was partially closed this evening after a crash.

The crash happened on Borough Road in Birkenhead near to the junction with Whitford Road at around 9pm on Monday, June 24. Images sent to the ECHO showed multiple police cars at the scene and a cordon in place.

A black hatchback appeared to be involved in the crash, as well as a motorcycle which could be seen within the police cordon. Photos showed the airbag in the black car had inflated.

One witness told the ECHO the crash involved a car and a motorbike. The ECHO has contacted Merseyside Police for further information regarding the incident and the nature of any injuries.

On social media, one user warned people to "avoid Borough Road", adding "police have it taped off by the old Kingsland". We'll be bringing you the very latest updates, pictures and video on this breaking news story.
