Man Questioned By Police Over Sex Claims

An 84-year-old man has been interviewed by detectives over sex offence allegations.

He was questioned under caution by officers from Operation Yewtree - the investigation looking at claims of historical abuse in the wake of the Jimmy Savile scandal.

Scotland Yard said he was interviewed on Tuesday and Wednesday this week at a police station in Stafford, Staffordshire.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said the man arrested has already been questioned under Operation Yewtree.

However, he would not disclose the man's identity.

Launched in October 2012 by the Met, Operation Yewtree has three lines of inquiry; claims against Savile, claims against Savile and others and claims against others.

The force said he was interviewed under the strand 'others' and that their inquiries continue.

So far more than a dozen people have been arrested as part of the investigation.

Five celebrities have been convicted for sex crimes under Operation Yewtree.
