A man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm (GBH) and remains in police custody after a stabbing in Lewisham.

Emergency services were called to a stabbing on Lewisham Way just after 4.30am on Saturday (June 22).

A short time later a man, aged in his 20s, presented himself at a south London hospital with a stab injury.

Police say his injuries are life threatening at this time.

A large crime scene remains in place around Lewisham Way, New Cross Road, Amersham Road, Shardeloes Road and Parkfield Road.

An investigation is under way.

A Met spokesperson said: “Police and LAS were called at 0434hrs on Saturday, 22 June, to a stabbing in Lewisham Way, SE14.

“A short time later a man, aged in his 20s, presented himself at a south London hospital suffering stab injuries.

“These injuries are being treated as life threatening at this time.

“A large crime scene remains in place around Lewisham Way, New Cross Road, Amersham Road, Shardeloes Road and Parkfield Road.

“An investigation is under way.

“A man has been arrested on suspicion of GBH and taken into police custody.
