Man attacked and dog kicked in street as suspect flees scene

A man in his 50s needed medical attention after he was attacked and his dog was 'kicked'.

The incident happened at around 1.15pm this afternoon (Wednesday June 3) on Portland Street, Southport. Police received a report that the victim was attacked by another man.

It was reported that the victim's dog was kicked by the suspect before he fled the scene on foot. The victim was given medical attention by paramedics but did not need to go to hospital

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "We can confirm that we received a report of an assault on Portland Street, in Southport, earlier this afternoon, Wednesday 3 July.

"At around 1.15pm, it was reported that a man aged in his 50s had been assaulted by another male. During the incident, the victim’s dog was reportedly kicked by the male. The suspect then left the scene on foot.

"Emergency services attended the scene and the victim was assessed by paramedics but did not require hospital treatment.
