Shocking moment man disguised as Amazon delivery driver brandishes loaded shotgun outside London home

Watch: Man disguised as Amazon delivery driver points shotgun at homeowner

This is the shocking moment a man disguised as an Amazon delivery driver and waving a loaded shotgun was tackled by a homeowner at his front door in London.

Vicente Forde knocked on the resident’s door in East Dulwich then pulled the shotgun from under his jacket when the victim emerged from the property.

Following a struggle, the homeowner managed to prise the gun away and throw it under a nearby car during the incident on 13 July 2020.

Forde, 32, from Gavestone Road, Greenwich, south London, was convicted at Croydon Crown Court on Monday of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

He had pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to possession of a prohibited weapon and possession of a firearm by a person prohibited. He was remanded for sentencing on 29 July.

Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances around the incident, which was captured on doorbell footage.

The Metropolitan Police said Forde knocked on the door of a home in Crystal Palace Road at 9.30am on 13 July, 2020, wearing a hi-vis jacket and holding an empty Amazon cardboard box.

When he heard the door opening, he dropped the package and pulled out a shotgun that he had concealed inside his jacket and aimed it towards the door.

The victim, who had been at home with his young daughter and was on the phone to a friend at the time, grabbed hold of the gun and struggled with Forde.

The victim said Forde shouted at him to let go of the gun or he would be stabbed, but he held on even as Forde kicked and punched him, before managing to prise the weapon away from him.

Members of the public, including men doing some building work nearby, rushed to the victim’s aid and restrained Forde.

Police officers later detained Forde when they arrived at the scene.

The firearm was seized and found to be viable and loaded with two live cartridges, the Metropolitan Police said.

The victim was taken to a hospital in south London where he was treated for bruising and a broken nose.

Detective Constable Imran Hansraj, of the Metropolitan Police’s Specialist Crime Command, said: "The victim had no idea what was about to unfold when he saw what he thought was a delivery man bringing a parcel to his address.

“He had been home with his young daughter and was going about his business as usual when he was thrust into an incredibly frightening ordeal in which he fought for his life.

"His life was turned upside down in a split second by Forde's actions, which were wicked and cowardly in the extreme.

“He was disguised and armed with a lethal weapon but the victim displayed incredible bravery to disarm him.

“He was lucky that a number of members of the public took heed of his cries for help and came to his aid. They too deserve enormous recognition.

"I hope Forde will now spend a substantial amount of prison, and I am sure that London will be all the safer for it."
