Don’t insult anyone on Facebook – at least in France.

A man has been fined £4,300 after calling a wheelchair-bound eight-year-boy a “fat pig” online.

A tribunal in the southern city of Beziers ruled on Friday that the money should be paid in damages, reported France Bleu website.

The insult happened after a housekeeper hurt her back helping a child, who had a hip injury, in a wheelchair.

The housekeeper was forced to take time off work because of the severity of her injury and posted about it on Facebook.

After it was posted online the housekeeper’s husband added a comment.

“My wife just tried to lift up some kind of fat pig that had been fed on burgers. I’d have made the fat thing run,” he wrote.

The boy’s mother was told about the post by other parents, reports The Local France.

The child also found out about the post and was left upset.

“He ran away from the school gates in tears and said he wanted to change schools,” the mother said.

“I felt sick. This is my own son. I lost sleep about it.”
