Man Jailed After JCB Cemetery Rampage

A man who caused about £15,000 of damage when he went on a rampage in a stolen JCB has been jailed for four-and-a-half years.

Police video caught 34-year-old Steven Regan leaving a trail of destruction in the Nottinghamshire town of Church Warsop on July 2 of this year as he tried to get away from the police.

His next move was through a field and into a cemetery where he was driving like a "man possessed", the court heard.

As he tried to find the exit, he ran over and knocked down at least two gravestones.

The total cost of damage to the cemetery was in the region of £15,000.

Regan, from Leeds, was eventually caught by police after he came out of the cemetery with a punctured tyre.

He was sentenced on Monday after the court was told how he was part of a gang which stole plant equipment - he admitted stealing 16 other vehicles in the year leading up to his capture.
