Man knocked unconscious in street fight on Torquay seafront

A man has been hospitalised after he was knocked unconscious in a fight which broke out in Torquay over the weekend. The victim suffered a head injury during the fight, where a number of people were also reported to be injured.

Police were called to a fight on Torbay Road in Torquay during the early hours of Sunday morning (June 23) around 1.30am. Three men have since been arrested in connection to this incident.

One victim was hospitalised after being knocked unconscious. He remains in hospital but his condition is not thought to be life-threatening.

Three men in their 20s have been arrested in relation to this incident. A 25-year-old man from Torquay was arrested on suspicion of GBH with intent and ABH.

A 23-year-old man from Paignton was arrested on suspicion of two GBH offences and four ABH. And a 24-year-old from Paignton was arrested on suspicion of GBH with intent.

All three men have been released on bail until September.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “Police were called at around 1.30am on Sunday 23 June following reports of a fight on Torbay Road, Torquay.

“It was reported that a number of people were left injured. One man remains in hospital after sustaining a head injury from being knocked unconscious. His condition is not-believed to be life-threatening.

“A 25-year-old man from Torquay was arrested on suspicion of GBH with intent and ABH.

“A 23-year-old man from Paignton was arrested on suspicion of two GBH offences and four ABH.

“A 24-year-old from Paignton was arrested on suspicion of GBH with intent. All three suspects have been released on bail until September.”
