You know how it is – you park your Porsche in a taxi rank to go clubbing, and come back the next day to find the bonnet smashed up.

This is the unfortunate fate that befell one reveller in Paris.

The 25-year-old became frustrated when he couldn’t find anywhere to park his posh 911 Carrera S, so left it in a taxi rank in the city’s swish sixth arrondissement, hazard lights flashing.

When he’d finished partying at a Left Bank club last Thursday night he took a cab home, leaving his leased car in the rank overnight.

According to Le Parisien newspaper, police officers on the hunt for possible car bombs in the wake of France’s recent terror attacks decided the car looked suspicious and called in bomb disposal experts.

A small amount of explosives attached to the bonnet was all that was needed to convince officers the car was bomb-free.

When the man – known only as Olivier – arrived soon afterwards he was shocked by the state of his wheels.

He told Le Parisien: “They (police) contacted the leasing agency I bought the car with, then called me, and I explained the situation.

“I apologised and said I would go there immediately. But obviously they didn’t take this into account, because the bonnet was already blown up by the time I arrived.”

While Olivier admitted that parking in a taxi rank was a bad call, he’s still considering taking legal action against the police.
