Man seriously injured after motorbike and motorhome collide on Ayrshire road

A man has been seriously injured after a motorbike and motorhome collided on an Ayrshire road.

The crash took place on the A760 Lochwinnoch to Kilbirnie road on Friday just before 12.30pm.

The 37-year-old rider of the black Ducati motorbike was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for the treatment of serious but not life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the grey Fiat Ducato motorhome, a 66-year-old man, was uninjured.

The road was closed for crash investigation work and re-opened around 9.30pm.

Sergeant Sean Dempsey said: “Our enquiries to establish the full circumstances are ongoing and we are asking anyone who saw what happened or either of the two vehicles before the crash to get in touch.

“We would be particularly keen to speak with the driver of a vehicle which was overtaken by the motorbike around the time of the crash.

“I would also ask anyone with dash-cam footage that could help with our investigation to contact us.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 1629 of 17 May.
