Manchester United have released a statement criticising the Premier League's decision to change fixture times, which has resulted in the club's travelling supporters facing a sixth late kick-off away from home this season at Crystal Palace.

The changes, driven by TV schedules, have not been favourable to United fans during a difficult season on the pitch. However, the club has made a move to support those affected.

United's match against Palace at Selhurst Park has been rescheduled to an 8pm kick-off on May 6 - a bank holiday. This means that any fans travelling by train would need to leave the match during the first half to reach Euston - 10 miles from the stadium - where the last train back to Manchester departs at 9.39pm.

United's away fans were left frustrated earlier this month after being subjected to consecutive night games in west London within six days - a 1-1 draw against Brentford and a 4-3 loss to Chelsea. These fixtures followed late away games at Burnley, Sheffield United and Newcastle United, with the Palace trip taking the season's total to six, more than any other top-flight team.

This change was the final straw for United, who informed their supporters that they had reached out to the Premier League demanding better consideration for travelling fans, reports the Express. The club have issued a statement saying: "We share your frustrations and appreciate the logistical difficulties that have been created for our fans by this fixture being scheduled for an 8pm kick off on bank holiday Monday in London.

"We want to inform you that we are writing to the Premier League to this effect, and will be asking for greater consideration to be given to match-going fans when agreeing fixture schedules with broadcasters.

"To support our travelling fans, we are pleased that together with our partner Adidas, we are able to offer free coach travel for supporters making the trip to Selhurst Park from Manchester. Thank you for your incredible support."

In addition to complimentary bus rides, United have decided to reward ticket holders. Anyone who holds a ticket to the game will be entered into a raffle to win a signed shirt.

Ahead of May 6, United have a packed schedule. Their first stop is a travel to AFC Bournemouth at Vitality Stadium on Saturday with a 5.30pm whistle.

After that Erik ten Hag's squad faces Championship side Coventry City in the FA Cup semi-finals at Wembley Stadium next Sunday, timed at 3.30pm. Presently, relegation favourites Sheffield United awaits them at Old Trafford, currently marked an 8pm kickoff; after three days on April 27, Burnley await the Red Devils at the same venue with the kick-off set for 3pm.
