Arsenal’s FA Cup semi-final win over Manchester City should mean nothing to Arsene Wenger and the club’s supporters, according to pundit Stan Collymore.

Wenger was in a jubilant mood at full-time on Sunday after his side had overturned a second-half deficit to claim a 2-1 win over City, the first time they had come from behind to beat a top six side since 2012.

The result puts Wenger 90 minutes away from a record seventh FA Cup triumph at Arsenal, though Arsenal will have to find their way past league leaders Chelsea at Wembley next month.

Despite their delight to have found their way past City Collymore, a beaten FA Cup finalist with Liverpool in 1995, believes Arsenal’s passage to the Final is nothing to be proud about.

He wrote in the Daily Mirror: “You don’t build a 60,000-seat stadium and charge three grand a pop for season tickets [sic – Arsenal’s most expensive season ticket is £2,013] to say to people we’ll give you an FA Cup victory in which we might beat Sutton and Lincoln en route to the final in return.

“So while a win at Wembley might mean something to Arsene Wenger and hardcore Arsenal fans, it should mean nothing at all. People who look under the bonnet will see things really aren’t running properly.”
