Manchester United vs Burnley - LIVE!

Ralf Rangnick’s team finally got the basics right as his United beat relegation-threatened Burnley 3-1 at Old Trafford.

Scott McTominay and Cristiano Ronaldo scored either side of a Ben Mee own goal to send United sixth in what was a reasonable improvement on their display against Newcastle United on Monday.

While the away side were certainly competitive in the first-half, United managed to see the game out with relative ease, albeit Sean Dyche’s side did little to truly threaten them.

McTominay and Mason Greenwood in particular impressed while Luke Shaw staked a case to replace Alex Telles as the club’s starting left-back with an impressive performance.

United now go sixth and four points off of Arsenal in the final Champions League qualification spot, with a game in hand on their Premier League rivals.

Looks like a routine win.

The game lulls

21:31 , Jonathan Gorrie

58:00 - Fairly quiet at the moment, with Burnley huffing and puffing without causing United many problems.

Greenwood and McTominay excellent

21:25 , Jonathan Gorrie

Rangnick might not seem like the kind of manager for some of United’s superstars but Greenwood and McTominay have been excellent tonight.

Under his watch, perhaps these two can truly develop.

CHANCE FOR UNITED

21:22 , Jonathan Gorrie

48:00 - Greenwood, who has been excellent, crosses for Ronaldo, though he heads wide.

Breathless few minutes!

That would certainly make things interesting.

All Burnley of late

That’s the kind of attacking intent Rangnick will love to see.

Where is the United midfield?

20:31 , Jonathan Gorrie

15:00 - Not exactly panic stations at the moment but Burnley are winning pretty much every second ball in the middle of the park.

Not a great look for the home side.

Marcus Rashford’s message to the fans

19:51 , Jonathan Gorrie

Speaking to the club’s official website, England international Marcus Rashford said: ““It’s been a difficult year for the fans as it has been for everyone. But when the fans came back the excitement and the buzz of football just went back to the level it was always at. “For me, I’d say don’t underestimate how important the fans are to the players.

“When you’re running on the pitch in the 70th, 80th minute and you’re completely drained, they’re the ones who keep you going. “It probably explains why Man United score so many late goals. We try to use the energy of the fans and try to put that into the team.

“So, I’d just like to say thank you to them for their support.”

The Ronaldo issue

19:43 , Jonathan Gorrie

It’s absolutely fascinating to see how Cristiano Ronaldo works under Ralf Rangnick.

Far from at his best so far, he’ll desperately need to improve on his performance against Newcastle.
