More Than 120 Dead After Train Collision in India
At least 120 people were killed and hundreds were injured when a passenger train collided with derailed cars of another train in India’s Odisha state on Friday night, June 2, according to government officials.
A large rescue operation was ongoing at the time of writing.
Odisha Chief Secretary Sri Pradeep Jena said a Coromandel Express train was traveling from Kolkata to Chennai when it crashed into the derailed cars of a freight train at Bahanaga, a community south of Balasore, at 7:20 pm. A second passenger train was also involved in the crash, Jena said.
