West Ham are hopeful that Marko Arnautovic will be fit for Sunday’s clash with Chelsea.

The striker was substituted shortly after scoring the third goal in a 3-1 win at Everton last weekend, complaining of a pain behind his left knee.

The Austrian, who also suffered from a similar problem in the defeat at Arsenal, has since been assessed by the medics, who remain optimistic he will have recovered in time for the Chelsea game. A club source said: “Arnie felt something behind the knee, so was brought off as a precaution. He seemed fine afterwards and, hopefully, he will be okay for the Chelsea game.”

Jack Wilshere, though, will be out for a month after ankle surgery on Monday. The midfielder, plagued by ankle problems throughout his career, first felt pain during training last week and missed the Everton match.

Following the London derby against Maurizio Sarri's side, the Hammers face further difficult tests with Manchester United, Brighton and Tottenham following in the League .
