Married at First Sight star regrets doing show and brands editing "unacceptable"

Gemma Rose has spoken out about Married at First Sight UK and claimed that she regrets doing it and called the editing "unacceptable".

The new series of the Channel 4 reality series saw Gemma marry Matt Murray, and they initially had good chemistry together. However, the couple had an argument about sexual innuendos that Gemma made, which ended with Matt walking off and Gemma in tears.

After that, Gemma and Matt were shown disagreeing over their ideas of love, before Matt also denied accusations that he had been cheating with his co-star Whitney Hughes.

In a series of Instagram stories over the last few days, Gemma alleges that her conversations with Matt played out differently to how they have been shown in the final edit of the show. Gemma claims that both of them made sexual comments, but only hers were aired in the episode.

She said: "There have been villains created and things made to look worse than they are. [It’s] absolutely unacceptable the way you have created these storylines and ruined people’s lives."

"This is so naïve to say," she continued in another story, "but I didn't realise things would be cropped out to the extent that they have been to make it look like things are one-sided...

"What's worse than me not having the chance to defend myself is that I did defend myself and the channel haven't shown it."

She criticised the show for making "characters" out of real people on the show, and claimed that she was not in control of how she appeared in the series.

"Anything you've seen has been narrated by a story team and it's all bulls***," she claimed, "You watch it as, 'I want to make my own mind up' but you're not in control and neither are we.

"We didn't sign up to be characters in a Netflix f**king show. we signed up to portray real-life relationships and how they develop."

In between these videos, Gemma replied to her followers questions, including one fan who asked if she 'regrets' going on the show and Gemma simply replied: "Yes." In a later post, she also told her fans not to apply for MAFS UK.

Channel 4 have released a statement in response to Gemma's claims, it reads: "Married at First Sight UK episodes are carefully put together so that, while we cannot show every moment of scenes that can take hours to film, we ensure that what we do broadcast is a fair and accurate reflection of the events that unfolded."
