Martin Lewis has announced that he will be the host of Have I Got News For You tomorrow night. In an unexpected reversal from his usual role as a financial expert, Martin will present the long-running BBC satirical comedy show on Friday (April 26).

He told fans on X, formerly Twitter and highlighted how different the role was for him. Martin, 51, uploaded two photos of him in the studio and wrote: "I've just sat in the presenters chair, for the first time, in an empty studio, ready for tonight's #Hignfy record for tomorrow's show.

"It was an interesting morning scripting and working with the producers and writers (I'm used to writing everything myself). This is the calm before the storm..."

The quiz of the news of the week will also feature comedian Ignacio Lopez and broadcaster Steph McGovern joining regular team captains Ian Hislop and Paul Merton.

Martin founded the website MoneySavingExpert.com, which he sold in 2012 to the Moneysupermarket.com group for up to £87 million. He is currently a presenter for ITV, on the morning shows Good Morning Britain and This Morning since 2007. He also presents The Martin Lewis Money Show.

Until 2002, Have I Got News for You was hosted by Angus Deayton, who was sacked following reports in national newspapers of several scandals about his private life.

Since then, the programme has been hosted by a different celebrity each week, with many of them adding their own comedy style.

Have I Got News For You airs on BBC One on Friday April 26 at 9pm.
