Despite the fact that Avengers: Endgame was released nine months ago, Marvel fans are only just noticing one huge callback to Infinity War.

One Reddit user highlighted a parallel they discovered linking Infinity War‘s very first scene featuring supervillain Thanos (Josh Brolin) with his final one in Endgame.

In Infinity War, which was released in 2018, Thanos tells Thor and Loki after killing their fellow Asgardians: “I know what it’s like to lose, to feel so desperately that you’re right but to fail none the less.

“It’s frightening,” he continues, adding: “Turns the legs to jelly.”

This speech foretells exactly where Thanos’ story is headed in Endgame – in the 2019 blockbuster, he’s usurped by Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr) who clicks his fingers while wearing the Infinity Gauntlet, which turns Thanos and his army to dust.

Thanos knows he has lost; he feels so desperately that he was right to destroy half of all life, but, thanks to the Avengers, he has now failed – and yes, his legs turn to jelly considering the last thing he does before perishing is sit down.

It’s quite pleasing to know that when Thanos taunts Thor in Infinity War, he’s ultimately telling them what will be his own destiny.

Despite his death, though, it may not be the last we see of the Mad Titan – the introduction of fan favourite character Nova to the Marvel Cinematic Universe could pave the way for his return. Find out how here.

New films scheduled to be released as part of the MCU over the coming year include Black Widow and The Eternals, starring Angelina Jolie and Richard Madden.

Meanwhile, a leaked set photo from Disney+ show The Falcon and the Winter Soldier seems to hint at the long-awaited arrival of the X-Men.
