Top Gear host Matt LeBlanc has revealed that he doesn’t speak to former co-host Chris Evans.

Ex-Friends funnyman LeBlanc fronted the revamped BBC car show with Evans after the programme was revived in 2016.

But the radio presenter’s time on the show proved to be brief as he quit after just six episodes – and apparently went off the radar as far as his former colleague was concerned.

In a chat with the BBC ahead of the show's 25th anniversary, LeBlanc joked: “He's supposed to be here, I don't know, where he is?

“You know, I haven't spoken to Chris. I haven't. Not because... I just, I've been busy, he's been busy, I have no animosity towards him, you know.”

And despite his hosting role on the show, which sees him test cars with Chris Harris, Rory Reid, Sabine Schmitz and Eddie Jordan, LeBlanc doesn’t see himself as a presenter.

The 50-year-old told the broadcaster: “"Presenting is not what I do. I'm an actor, playing the part of a presenter. That's what I do. So is it really me you see on Top Gear? Probably not.

"It's the me that suits the film we're making. It's the me that suits the studio portion in front of the crowd.

“That's what an actor does, you try to mould yourself to fit the needs of the piece,” he added.

Top Gear returns to BBC Two at 8pm on Sunday, February 25.
