Matthew Wright has unveiled an unusual new hairdo while appearing on the This Morning sofa.

The 55-year-old presenter sported a mullet-style look that went un-commented on by the show’s presenters Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes.

Wright’s hair has been cropped short on the front, back and sides, but a small ponytail could be seen trailing down the back of his neck and shirt collar.

One tweeted: “Has @Matthew_Wright got a 1980’s hair tail?”

Wright has not commented on questions about the hairdo, but he appears to have been cultivating it for some time.

During a previous appearance on the This Morning sofa in July early signs of the mullet could be seen sprouting over the back of his collar.

Wright – who took part in I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! in 2013 – became a father to daughter Cassady in January 2019, after he and wife Amelia had battled with IVF for eight years in a bid to have children.

He said: "I've had a lot of mental health issues really over the last year and a half. A friend's suicide, problems at Channel 5, other personal problems, and there was a story written about me, a fake story about me losing my job just before Christmas, and it knocked me sideways.

“And Amelia just said, 'What's the point of you being here not sleeping?’ And she said, ‘Go away, do something that’s good for you.’ And it was good for me.

“It’s very difficult... Christmas Day I cried my eyes out.”
