McDonald's reopens days after cockroach infestation

A Mcdonald's branch in Shirley which was forced to shut after a cockroach infestation has reopened.

The discovery of the pest in the Shirley Road eatery in late April forced the fast food chain to shut the restaurant for a deep clean.

But now, as of today (Saturday, May 4), the burger joint is back in business.

A spokesperson for McDonald's said at the time: “Last week we made the decision to temporarily close our Shirley Road restaurant while our pest control partner thoroughly investigated and dealt with an issue.

“Following a pest sighting, we thoroughly cleaned and sanitised the restaurant, and have remained closed for a period to ensure experts are completely confident the issue has been fully resolved.

“We have informed Southampton City Council of both the issues and the thorough actions that are underway.

“We would like to apologise to our customers for any inconvenience caused and look forward to reopening our doors as soon the issue is fully resolved.”
