The inaugural Devitt MCN Ally Pally Show takes place at Alexandra Palace in north London from September 22-23, featuring the world’s only indoor Supersprint, a line-up of two-wheeled exotica new and old, famous riders and more than 75 classic bikes being auctioned by Bonhams - including an MV Agusta thought to have been raced by the Italian legend Giacomo Agostini.
The indoor Supersprint will take place in the Great Hall at Alexandra Palace, where former World Superbike Champion Carl Fogarty going head to head with Isle of Man TT legend John McGuinness, Chris Walker, James Whitham and multiple World Trials Champion Dougie Lampkin in a series of riding challenges.
When these two-wheeled stars are not competing, there will be a (very noisy) cavalcade of bikes in action on the Supersprint course.
These will include a replica of the 1967 Honda RC181 500cc four-cylinder GP bike ridden by Mike Hailwood, a rare 250cc four-cylinder four-stroke produced by two-stroke king Yamaha in 1970 and, more recently, the screaming 2003 MotoGP Ducati ridden by Loris Capirossi.
Other famous competition bikes on display include Steve Hislop’s 1989 Isle of Man TT Honda RC30 750 V4, John McGuinness’ 2003 TT Triumph, John Reynolds’ 2005 Rizla Suzuki, a 1972 ex-Mick Grant John Player Norton 750 as well as a 500cc Manx Norton from 1960.
Alongside these, Built magazine will be showcasing the very best of the custom and cafe racer scene with machines from Down and Out, Foundry motorcycles and Shaw Speed and Custom. Honda and Kawasaki will also be showing their latest machines.
On the Sunday, Bonhams will be auctioning 75 exotic and rare motorcycles, including a 1973 MV Agusta 500/3 thought to have been used by Giacomo Agostini, the most successful Grand Prix rider in history, which is expected to fetch £250,000-£350,000.
Visitors will also be able to see creations by custom bike builder Allen Millyard, who has a penchant for adding more cylinders to production bikes, including his latest tribute to the Honda RC174 racing bike and the famous 4,894cc “Flying Millyard” V-twin.
Millyard will also be hosting live workshops for free, while two-wheeled explorer Nick Sanders will be taking to the stage to tell tales from his latest adventure in Mongolia.
Discount tickets are available until September 21 online, at £17 for adults (children are admitted free). Tickets on the door cost £21.
A VIP ticket (£30 adults, £15 children) allows visitors to meet the famous racers and take an exclusive track walk. They will also get a an MCN goodie bag and a 10% discount on event catering.
