Meet the Isle of Wight woman who is helping treat dogs with muscular issues.

Michele Kent runs Wight Canine Therapy, based in Newport, and her business also provides a mobile service to treat dogs in the comfort of their own homes.

Michele is a dog lover who has always wanted to help pooches, and when her daughter went off to university, she bit the bullet and studied for three years to become a Galen Myotherapist.

Myotherapy is a massage and exercise rehabilitation therapy supporting working and agility dogs, dogs with chronic health conditions such as osteoarthritis, and those recovering from injury or surgery.

"If your dog is a little less playful, interactive or energetic on walks, intolerant of other dogs, reluctant to be groomed, struggling getting on the sofa or out of the car, or if they incessantly chew, lick or nibble at their feet, legs, or another body part, these aren’t always signs of getting old,” says Michele.

“In fact, they’re often missed signs of chronic pain and/or long standing, undetected muscular issues.

“Your dog could benefit from Galen Myotherapy.”

Michele only treats dogs with a vet’s consent and, as well as being a fully qualified, insured and registered Galen Canine Myotherapist, also has certificates in canine first aid, gait and lameness, canine anxiety, and canine behaviour and psychology.
