Megan Thee Stallion has cancelled her upcoming Glasgow show just one week before she was due to perform.

The American rapper disappointed thousands of fans who were set to attend the show at the OVO Hydro on July 4 as the star confirmed the event had been cancelled on Wednesday, June 26.

Taking to social media, she wrote: "To my Glasgow Hotties I promise I’ll be there soon, the venue informed us of a complex construction project that will close the venue forcing us to cancel the show. But we will find a date in the future !!! I love yall and can’t wait to see you"

The venue has also removed the performance from its website.

The show was set to kick off the European and UK leg of the rapper's tour with shows also taking place in Manchester and London. The cancellation news comes after Megan added extra dates to the US leg of her tour on July 2 and 3 in Atlanta.

An email shared by fans on social media stated that they will automatically be refunded for their ticket purchase.

Fans took to social media to share their frustration with one person writing on X: “Why has the Glasgow show been cancelled for other US shows? Gutted.”

Another wrote: "Apparently the ‘reason’ Megan Thee Stallion cancelled her Glasgow tour date was due to ‘a complex construction project’ yet there’s a show at the arena 2 days before and 2 days after the date that was originally planned (The 4th)… so it’s clearly not that ‘complex’"

One chimed: "getting notice a week before the show that megan thee stallion cancelled her show in glasgow after I've already bought flights months ago hahahaha hah..ha...h"
