Megan Thee Stallion has cancelled her gig at Glasgow's Ovo Hydro just one week before she was due to perform.

The US rapper confirmed the show on July 4 had been cancelled, apologising to fans and promising that a new date would be set.

The popular artist said the cancellation was due to " complex construction project that will close the venue". The Ovo Hydro has also removed the gig from their website.

Fans will automatically be refunded for their tickets, according to an email shared by fans online.

Taking to social media, Megan wrote: "To my Glasgow Hotties I promise I’ll be there soon, the venue informed us of a complex construction project that will close the venue forcing us to cancel the show. But we will find a date in the future !!! I love yall and can’t wait to see you."

The show was set to kick off the European and UK leg of her tour with shows also taking place in Manchester and London.

A spokesperson from the SEC said: “Megan Thee Stallion was scheduled to perform her Hot Girl Summer Tour on 4th July. This date could indeed have gone ahead however the artist needed to move the original date and the venue was unavailable on the dates requested for reschedule. We hope to welcome Megan Thee Stallion back to the OVO Hydro soon.”
