Meghan Markle's puzzling moments at the Invictus Games have been under scrutiny as veterans voice their concerns over her involvement.

To show support for Prince Harry, the Duchess of Sussex has always maintained a presence at the Games, yet some veterans are expressing dissatisfaction with her role.

Prince Harry founded the event in 2014 to assist wounded, injured and unwell veterans. Presently, calls are being made urging him to step down from the event after his wife took on a significant role.

Concerns are emerging from some veterans that the games are becoming "too royal" and have "lost their meaning" due to Meghan's participation. Her profile at the event has been viewed with mixed feelings; while some appreciate her support, others question her decisions.

In light of these concerns, the Mirror reflected on Meghan's puzzling moments during her attendances over the years.

Leading the march

During the 2023 Invictus Games held in Dusseldorf, Meghan was spotted leading a march ahead of the veterans. This left attendees bewildered as to why she assumed centre stage.

The duchess shined as she led the parade in a chic cream playsuit, but no justification was provided for her leadership in the march.

A TikTok video capturing the moment sparked a flurry of comments from baffled fans. One user questioned, "Totally confusing! Is she leading the March? " while another remarked, "Should not have been there," and a third added, "It was disrespectful."

An attempt to rationalise Meghan's prominent position at the event was made by one TikToker who suggested: "It could have been because Meghan Markle wanted to bolster her image ahead of her upcoming projects," further noting, "She thought the Invictus Games was going to be a massive opportunity for her."

During last year's Friends and Family party at the Invictus Games, Meghan delivered an uncommon speech, sharing the spotlight with Prince Harry. Addressing over 1,600 competitors and their supporters, Meghan expressed gratitude for their presence.

Yet, her speech left some puzzled as she focused on her own experiences. Speaking to the audience, Meghan described her arrival in Germany as "very special" and continued: "I'm really, really proud to be part of this Invictus family with all of you. I'm grateful for all of you that are here."

Meghan also clarified her delayed appearance at the Games, explaining: "Sorry, I'm a little late to the party. I had to spend a little more time getting our little ones settled at home and get them to drop off. Three milkshakes and a school drop off and I just landed a couple of hours ago."

Harry 'snub'

Harry appeared to ignore Meghan in his speech at the Invictus Games 2023 closing ceremony, despite considerable speculation that he would be offering her a personal accolade. Rather than touching on his wife, the Duke of Sussex expressed his admiration for the war veterans contributing to the sporting event.

Taking to the microphone at the Merkur Spiel Arena, he mused: "As you have seen and experienced, this week is so much more than a sporting event. It is a platform for positive change. We hope you too are feeling it deeply. I am sure, you're all physically exhausted, but I also hope you are mentally stronger than when you arrived."

Lost 'meaning'

A number of people argue the Invictus Games has begun to lose its significance. Over approximately 2,000 ex-military personnel departed from the event amidst declarations that the tournament has lost its core sense of purpose.

Moreover, Meghans involvement has invited some disapproval, igniting concerns over an overly royal aspect associated with the Invictus Games. GB News presenter Mark Dolan observed: "About 2,000 ex-military have left the games, as they say it's lost its original meaning. There are some former veterans who would like Harry to step down."
