Mel B has finally addressed the speculation over her rumoured return to the X Factor judging panel.

The former Spice Girl, 42, is reportedly in talks to take over from Nicole Scherzinger when the series returns to ITV later this year.

Mel B said she hasn’t been informed, but would be keen to return if the opportunity arose.

“It’s news to me, I haven't heard that,” she told OK! Magazine.

“If they asked and I had time, it’s something I’d think about.”

The singer, who currently works alongside Simon Cowell as a judge on America’s Got Talent, starred on the show in 2014. She mentored Andrea Faustini to the semi-final.

Louis Walsh previously hinted that she would reprise her role as a judge, after appearing to tease a Hollywood move for Scherzinger.

“Nicole might be getting a big movie like Wicked,” he told The Sun. “If [Nicole doesn't come back] Mel B would be a good idea for the panel. Mel is on the US show with Simon.”

Walsh also opened up about his own fate on the show, claiming he and Sharon Osbourne have signed three year contracts.

“I’ve checked it out with someone and have told Simon that,” he said.

“I have spoken to Sharon. She’s said they can only sack us if they pay us. Sharon did say she was surprised she hadn’t been given any filming dates.

“I don’t think they’ve finalised what they’re going to do with the panel. We have three-year contracts. We both do.”
