Mel B says the Spice Girls reunion might not happen: ‘Nothing has been booked’
Mel B has cast fresh doubt on the Spice Girls reunion after claiming “nothing has been booked” for the Girl Power comeback in 2017 – but added that she is “waiting like everybody else.”
The Wannabe hitmakers have been stirring up a frenzy of excitement over their prospective reunion for most of the year – with Mel B, Emma Bunton and Geri Horner reforming as a three-piece under the name GEM.
Since then, the trio’s reunion plans have changed more times than we’ve had hot dinners – with rumours initially claiming the revival group were launching a BBC talent show to search for singers to join them on stage in London’s Hyde Park next July, followed by a recording studio snap featuring Ginger and Baby Spice, with a catchy new track leaking online shortly after.
But now it seems we’ll have to keep waiting for their highly anticipated reunion, as Mel B has admitted there aren’t any plans in place for next year.
The former X Factor judge told Radio Times: “It’s one thing saying it, it’s another thing actually doing it!
“I’m not sick of talking about it – if anything, I want to keep on talking about it until something actually happens, because as of right now there’s nothing booked, there’s nothing set in stone, nothing’s been signed.”
The 41-year-old singer went on reveal that her schedule is “pretty busy” in 2017, but claimed she would drop everything to focus on getting the girl group back together.
She added: “I’m off doing Broadway for the next three months and I go straight into America’s Got Talent so I’m pretty busy all of next year, but if anybody said to me, “Ok, the Spice Girls are going to perform next week”, I’d be the first one right there.”
Mel C and Victoria Beckham previously ruled themselves out of any further reunions but, in a bid to prove that friendship never ends, Mel B shared her hopes of a five-piece reunion in the future.
She said: “Nothing’s been said out there yet, so until something gets set in stone like I said it is what it is. I’m just waiting like everybody else.”
