The Menier Chocolate Factory has announced a major revival of Fiddler on the Roof, directed by Trevor Nunn.

Running from December 5 - March, Fiddler on the Roof follows the story of Tevye, a Jewish milkman living in a small Soviet village with his wife and five daughters, as he fights to keep tradition alive amid changing times and antisemitic violence.

Jerry Bock, Sheldon Harnick and Joseph Stein’s musical features such classic numbers as “If I Were A Rich Man”, “Sunrise, Sunset” and “Matchmaker, Matchmaker”.

First performed in London in 1967, it was last seen here in 2007, when Henry Goodman played Tevye at the Savoy Theatre. When it opened on Broadway, it was the first production to break the 3,000 performance mark and was one of the musicals to start the trend of extended runs.

Trevor Nunn’s previous collaborations with the Menier Chocolate Factory include Lettice and Lovage, A Little Night Music, Aspects of Love and Love in Idleness.

Public booking opens on September 5, with Menier supporters booking opening on August 28, menierchocolatefactory.com
