A NEW locally produced theatre show which brings the joys and challenges of mathematics to life has been touring schools across Essex.

As part of the Essex Year of Numbers campaign, created by Essex County Council, the Mercury Theatre has created a lively new show for pupils aged seven to 11.

The new play titled No More Numbers, has visited 12 schools in Essex and enabled more than 1,000 students to experience the wonders of Maths.

The production has been written and directed by Essex creatives, Gail Egbeson and Nicola Pollard.

Both Nicola and Gail have been supported by Mercury Theatre’s talent development programmes.

The show also featured a brand-new set and costumes commissioned as part of the performance.

Steve Mannix, executive director at Mercury Theatre, said: “The Mercury is the busiest fully producing theatre in Essex and we work hard to reach all communities.

“Our work with schools is vital to our engagement offer and having the support from Essex County Council’s ‘Essex Year of Numbers’ is fantastic.

"We would not have been able to commission this work with our local artists and engage these schools if it wasn’t for the initiative and funding available.”
