People can expect a damp end to the week as this week's scorching temperatures take a slight dip, with potential thunderstorms on the horizon. Weather experts have flagged the possibility of thunder rumbling in late on Wednesday, while Met Office projections indicate lighter rain expected from the morning of June 29 across Wales and northwest England.

The Midlands are also set to see some wet weather later in the day as showers sweep across England and Scotland, calming by evening. However, there will be sporadic rain from Cornwall stretching up to regions including Oxford and parts of Buckinghamshire. Sunday is looking to be dotted with light rain in various locales.

Following a sizzler of a day where temps soared to 30C, a cooler respite is on the way. The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has slapped yellow health warnings over much of England, urging particularly the elderly to limit their sun exposure. These cautions are in place until Thursday when the mercury is predicted to fall, reports the Mirror.

"Wednesday is a very warm day for many and we're going to have top temperatures of 31C," said Met Office spokesperson Andrea Bishop. "We then transition to fresher conditions looking very likely through Thursday as a weakening band of cloud and showery rain runs east, south-east, across the country through the day. Although it could still be very warm ahead of this, for example in the east or southeast of England."

Jim Dale, Founder and Senior Meteorological Consultant at British Weather Services informed Express that there's a decent chance the UK could dodge substantial rainfall this weekend. "There might be the odd thunderstorm as cooler air sneaks in," revealed Dale, hinting towards mid-week weather.

He stated that "Wednesday might see the odd crack of thunder going from southern Scotland to western Wales".

Not just stopping at UK predictions, Mr Dale pointed towards unsettled conditions affecting countries such as Germany in mainland Europe, potentially dampening Euro 2024. Unperturbed for us though, Dale confirmed: "We'll escape it and be quite lucky in a way. It's a damp squib for us."

Elsewhere in UK, light showers are forecasted for Glastonbury this week, a mere distraction for festival-goers attending Britain's premier music event. By Wednesday, we can expect the mercury to touch between 25C and 27C.

This is the peak arrival day for festival attendees at Worthy Farm, leading to lengthy queues lining the surrounding roads. Campers will have to brace themselves for "light rain" and a "cold front" on Thursday, with dials showing an average temperature of 20C. A slight drop awaits the crowd on Friday with temperature readouts hovering around 18C, but not to worry, warmer averages between 20C - 21C are pencilled in for the weekend.
