Met Police officer charged with sexually assaulting woman in Tottenham

A serving Metropolitan Police officer has been charged with sexually assaulting a woman in Tottenham, north London.

PC Joe Moloney has been charged in connection with an incident that allegedly happened in the Bruce Grove area on Saturday, October 29 last year, while he was off-duty.

He was arrested on November 1 last year.Scotland Yard confirmed he appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, where he pleaded not guilty.

He was bailed to attend Wood Green Crown Court on Saturday (November 21).

The Independent Office for Police Conduct was informed of the arrest as a mandatory referral, and the watchdog oncluded that a local investigation was appropriate.

"The investigation is being led by detectives from the North Area’s CID," a Met Police spokesperson said. "The Directorate of Professional Standards has been informed."

Moloney, formerly attached to Met Operations, is currently suspended from duty.
