CBC Radio's Metro Morning was live from Markham on Thursday with a special show dedicated to one of Canada's most diverse cities.

Host David Common was at Cafe de Hong Kong on Fairburn Drive, where he was joined by a range of guests who chatted all things Markham, from housing to culture.

The broadcast featured a roundtable with in-depth discussion about affordability and the explosive growth the city is experiencing.

Markham Mayor Frank Scarpitti also joined to talk about how some aspects of the province's Bill 23, the More Homes Built Faster Act, are actually hindering the city's ability to provide key infrastructure to new communities.

The show also heard from York Regional Police Deputy Chief Paulo Da Silva about the ongoing fight against surging auto theft in the region.

Metro Morning's food columnist Suresh Doss was also on site to showcase some of Cafe de Hong Kong's best offerings.
