MNEK to headline UK Black Pride in Haggerston Park

MNEK is set to headline UK Black Pride in Haggerston Park next month.

The Grammy-nominated songwriter and producer is heading up this year’s celebrations on Sunday July 7.

The Girlfriend singer confirmed the news on Twitter saying it was one of his “biggest regrets not being able to do it last year”.

MNEK released critically-acclaimed album Language last year and has written and produced hits for Dua Lipa, Madonna and Beyoncé. He performed at LA Pride earlier in the month.

Aaron Carty's Beyoncé Experience, Toya Delazy and N’Chyz are also on the line-up.

Director and playwright Rikki Beadle-Blair and performer and writer Travis Alabanza are among the hosts of the main stage.

UK Black Pride, Europe’s largest celebration for African, Asian, Middle Eastern, Latin American and Caribbean-heritage LGBTQ+ people, moves to Haggerston Park after many years in Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens.

Phyll Opoku-Gyimah, UK Black Pride’s co-founder and executive director said: “We are so energised by Hackney’s diversity, historical significance as a welcoming place for people from such a broad range of diasporas and the wonderfully enthusiastic response from local government.”

As well as live music and DJs, there will be food stalls, workshops and talks running throughout the day.
