Moment TV presenter Hayley Moore is knocked to ground after bravely tackling racehorse at Chepstow

This is the moment a TV reporter bravely tackled a horse as it charged towards her at Chepstow race course.

At The Races host Hayley Moore was dragged along the ground after she grabbed hold of the horse's reins.

She had stood her ground when David Evans-trained horse Give Em A Club stumbled and unseated his rider Fran Berry.

The TV presenter was knocked to the ground and suffered a blow to the face but firmly kept a hold of the reins before unsaddling the gelding and getting back to her day job.

Ms Moore, who is the sister of former champion jockey Ryan Moore, was working at the Welsh venue as the on-course reporter for the event when she spotted the horse heading for another lap.

While most people in its way jumped aside, Ms Moore instinctively took decisive action to put an end to the runaway.

After stopping the three-year-old horse, the former amateur rider calmly dusted herself down and removed his saddle, taking charge of the situation.

She joked afterwards: "They'll have to put the divot back in, but luckily it's on the jumps track so they'll have time to get the truck on the track!”

She added: “He had started to slow down – I wouldn’t have done it if he wasn’t! He just caught the side of my face, which is what knocked me down, but I’m fine.

“I just couldn’t bear the thought of him going round again, especially on quite a hot day. He had the blinkers on and I think he was panicking a little, he was running on adrenaline.”

Commending her bravery, clerk of the course Keith Otteson said: "I thought it was a hell of a tackle. She was brave - too brave, really - but luckily she was fine.

"It was one of the best tackles I've seen in Wales. We wouldn't normally advocate that sort of thing, but we all know where Hayley comes from.

"Fran is all right, basically. He was just a bit shaken up by it all and was stood down for the day,” he added.
