Mother Of Moors Victim Dies

Winnie Johnson, the mother of Moors murder victim Keith Bennett, has died at the age of 78.

Ms Johnson, who was battling bowel cancer, passed away in the early hours of the morning at a hospice in Greater Manchester.

Her death comes after the mental health advocate for her son's murderer Ian Brady was arrested for allegedly failing to reveal information about where Keith Bennett was buried.

Jackie Powell, 49, was held on Friday at her home in South Wales on suspicion of preventing the burial of a body.

Ms Powell reportedly told a Channel 4 documentary that Brady gave her a sealed envelope containing a letter to Ms Johnson, with strict orders it was only to be opened after his death.

There was speculation it may have given the location of the 12-year-old's grave, finally allowing Ms Johnson to lay her son to rest.
