Motorcyclist suffers serious injuries in Newport crash

A woman has suffered what police are calling serious injuries following a crash involving a car and motorbike on the Isle of Wight.

A 75 year-old man arrested on suspicion of drink driving has been released with no further action.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary was called to Long Lane, Newport shortly after 5pm yesterday (Sunday, May 5).

Police were alerted to reports of a collision between a car and a motorbike.

The driver of the motorbike, a woman in her 40s, was taken to hospital.

Officers said she sustained serious injuries.
