If your oven racks are looking a bit worse for wear, caked in grease and leftover food, it's probably time to give them a good scrub. But cleaning oven racks can be quite the task, often leading many to put off this particular kitchen chore.

Devotees of cleaning guru Mrs Hinch have now revealed their top tips for tackling dirty oven racks with ease. In the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips Facebook group, Tish Mccormack asked fellow Hinching enthusiasts: "Easiest and fastest way to clean oven racks please? ".

The most popular solution among the group was to use dishwasher tablets, reports the Express. Dannielle Jade Barlow advised: "Dishwasher tablet, a bit of washing up liquid in hot water, leave to soak, scrub off with metal scourers."

Margaret Mary Byrne suggested: "Steep in boiling water and dishwasher tablets." Tricia Blakeman recommended: "Leave to soak overnight in a dishwasher tablet and boiling water."

Caroline Brown instructed: "Put in the bath, cover with hot water and throw in two dishwasher tablets. Leave overnight and use the shower hose to rinse. Grime just falls off with a gentle rubbing."

Rozegold Gold offered: "Dishwasher tablet in vinegar. A little bit of Fairy [liquid] and leave it for a bit then wash it or put it in the dishwasher." For those who have a dishwasher, using tablets you already have at home is convenient, but for others, they're readily available in any supermarket.

Asdas All in 1 Dishwasher Tablets are priced at £4 for a pack of 40, which equates to 10p per tablet. Meanwhile, Sainsbury's offers House 24/7 Dishwasher Tablets at £1.49 for 30 tablets, amounting to 5p per tablet.

However, a word of caution was mentioned by some fans over the possibility of oven racks scratching the bath. As Judith Smith put it: "You can do this but put a towel in the bath first so it doesn't scratch your bath." The Hinchers also suggest several other handy methods for cleaning those pesky oven racks, including white vinegar, baking soda, grass, Oven Pride, and even the dishwasher.

One follower, Andrea Jones, swears by using: "White vinegar and bicarbonate of soda." Another interesting solution came from Susan Mcalpine who advises to: "Chuck them on your lawn and leave overnight. Next day, everything just wipes off. I found this out after throwing my barbecue rack onto the lawn and forgot about it [the] next day. It just wiped clean."

Colleen Bisson shared her method: "Put them through a wash cycle in [the] dishwasher but remove before [the] drying cycle if there are any bits that were baked on they just wipe off. Voila, lovely shiny oven shelves."

Trisha Fox recommends the old faithful: "Oven Pride, you can't go wrong. Minimum effort required."
