Music festival near Swindon offering free tickets this weekend

A festival happening in the Swindon area this weekend is offering free tickets to guests.

The WrdeUp event returns to Highworth’s Lower Rec in a few days’ time under new management by Fandangos Productions Ltd.

Along with two days of live music and fun family-friendly activities, the festival has expanded for the first time to include hours of entertainment focused on grassroots music and performers.

The WrdeUp Grass Roots Festival takes place on Sunday and is selling tickets on a pay-what-you-feel basis – which includes paying nothing at all, if visitors wish, from the website www.wrdeup.co.uk/event-details/wrdeup.

This unprecedented third day celebrates the work of homegrown talents and includes opportunities for those wanting to start their journey into music while offering encouragement from more-established artists who have trodden a similar path.

The line-up includes Dub Catalyst, Billy and Louie Soul Band, a Highworth Jazz Showcase, Plucking Different, and Concrete Prairie.

A spokesperson for the festival said: “This event is supported by Arts Council England, allowing the free/pay-what-you-feel model, of which we’ve very grateful.”

Tickets for the Friday and Saturday are still available, with a line-up that includes Black Eyed Peas, Fatboy Slim, Fleetwood Mac and Taylor Swift tribute acts.
