Nasa releases incredible images of solar eclipse from International Space Station

Nasa has released a series of incredible images showing views of the recent eclipse from the International Space Station.

The stunning pictures were posted on social media by astronaut Paolo Nespoli alongside the caption “Voila!... no words needed.”

They reveal a new perspective of the eclipse that swept across the United States as millions of Americans watched in wonder on Monday.

Mr Nespoli, an Italian astronaut who watched the spectacle from the space station, added in his tweet: “The Eclipse seen from space station does not serve words.”

The movement of the moon between the Earth and sun turned day to night for more than two minutes at each location along a narrow corridor stretching across the country.

Tracking east over 90 minutes, the eclipse travelled across 14 states from Oregon to South Carolina, before heading out over the Atlantic.

It is expected to be the most-observed and most-photographed eclipse in history.

However gloomy skies meant that Britons were less lucky in seeing a a partial solar eclipse on Monday evening.
