Neighbourhood reeling following car park stabbing

As parents walked their children to school, they saw the police tape. There was a crime scene on their doorstep as police investigated a horror stabbing.

A young man is fighting for his life after being knifed in Moston. A car park off Ainsbrook Avenue was being trawled by forensics after the victim - who is in his 20s - was attacked.

Police were called to the car park at around 4.50am on Tuesday (July 2). The man was rushed to hospital having suffered serious injuries.

Officers, police community support officers, forensics and a detective were seen at the scene of the incident throughout Tuesday morning. A blue tent was earlier erected.

Greater Manchester Police said: "At around 4.50am this morning (Tuesday 2 July 2024), we were called to reports of a stabbing on Ainsbrook Avenue in Charlestown, Manchester.

"A man in his 20s has been taken to hospital with serious injuries, where he remains in life-threatening condition,"

No arrests have been made at this stage and investigations are ongoing."
