New business travel arrangement between Singapore and Japan for work-pass holders

SINGAPORE — An additional travel arrangement between Singapore and Japan will be launched on Wednesday (30 September) to facilitate business movement amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

In a media release on Friday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) said that the new Residence Track arrangement will provide for travel of business executives and business professionals who are work-pass holders between the two countries, with the necessary public health safeguards in place.

This is in addition to the Business Track, or Reciprocal Green Lane, which was launched on 18 September to facilitate short-term essential business and official travel between Singapore and Japan.

Interested applicants for the Residence Track can apply from Wednesday onwards. Details such as eligibility criteria, health protocols and application process will be made available on the Japan Ministry of Foreign Affairs website (for entry into Japan) and the Singapore MFA website (for entry into Singapore) before Wednesday.

As of 8 September, Japan has established Residence Track travel arrangements with Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Taiwan.
