Newfoundland Woman Really Regrets Leaving Car Window Open During Blizzard

A Newfoundland woman was left with a car full of snow on January 18 after she accidently left the passenger side window of her vehicle open during a record-breaking snowstorm the night before.

Gail Soper recorded this video of her best friend, Lola Parsons, after she discovered her car filled with snow in Conception Bay. Soper told Storyful she and Parsons went outside the morning after the storm to clean up over “6ft of snow in the driveway.”

“We went to check our vehicles and we thought we lucked out because both our cars had very little snow around them,” she said. “But when we went around the passenger door of Lola’s car, the window was gone and the car was full of snow!”

Soper said at first she and Parsons thought someone had broken into the car and they started taking pictures for insurance purposes. Lola then thought the glass might have been blown in by the wind, but with no sign of broken glass, Lola realized she left the window open.

Environment Canada reported the snowfall broke records in the province, with 76.2 cm recorded at St. John’s International Airport on January 17, beating the previous record of 68.4 cm on April 5, 1999. Credit: Lola Parsons via Storyful
