'You Got Robbed': Macklemore Apologises To Kendrick Lamar After Beating The Rapper At The Grammys

Macklemore may have been one of the big winners at last night's Grammy Awards, but the musician was quick to admit that he felt one of his gongs shoud've been awarded to rap rival Kendrick Lamar.

After beating the rapper in all three rap categories at last night's Grammy Awards, Macklemore published a text he sent Kendrick on Instagram, where he explains that his rival was "robbed" of the Best Rap Album prize.

2013 album 'The Heist' won ahead of Lamar's 'Good Kid, MAAD City' plus Kanye West's 'Yeezus' and 'Nothing Was The Same' By Drake.

Apologising to Lamar, Macklemore wrote: "You got robbed. I wanted you to win. You should have. It's weird and sucks that I robbed you. I was gonna say that during the speech then the music started playing during my speech and I froze."

Alongside the text, the star pointed out that he was still "honoured" to win "and completely blown away to win anything much less 4 Grammys. But in that category, he should have won IMO. And that's taking nothing away from The Heist. Just giving GKMC it's proper respect.."

Macklemore added that he loved his 2014 Grammys experience, especially his performance with Ryan Lewis, Mary Lambert and Madonna in a powerful rendition of 'Same Love', which saw 33 couples marry during the ceremony.

"With that being said, thank you to the fans. You're the reason we were on that stage tonight. And to play Same Love on that platform was a career highlight. The greatest honor of all. That's what this is about. Progress and art. Thank you. #grammys".
