Christopher Nolan's new Batman movie reportedly received a standing ovation from critics and bloggers at and advance screening of  'The Dark Knight Rises' in the US this Saturday.

The 40-50 film critics, bloggers and Batman fans were invited to an advanced showing of the film, and were pretty enthusiastic, according to Comicbookmovie.com.

Reviewers were told to keep their mouths closed about the film untill July 18, but many broke the embargo, with reports suggesting that the film received a "standing ovation", so we can't imagine the film's producers are too unhappy about the breach of security.

Others took to Facebook, with Vince Peluso saying that he was "quite speechless" after the screening and said the movie was "everything I wanted it to be".

An anonymous blogger said: "I, myself, cried twice...once out of sadness and once out of pure geeky uncontrollable happiness."

Secrecy has surrounded the film since it began production, with Nolan notoriously secretive about plot details, and wanting to keep fans guessing about the nature of the movie.

'The Dark Knight Rises' opens in the US and the UK on July 20.

It has a running time of 164 minutes, ensuring that it is the longest of Nolan's Batman films.
