With just a couple of weeks to go until the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge welcome their first baby, royal watchers are predicting that Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton will follow the example of Diana, Princess of Wales when it comes to raising their child.

As the world waits for the arrival of the newest member of the royal family, speculation about the Duke and Duchess' parenting style has begun with Princess Margaret’s official biographer Christopher Warwick insisting that the couple won't want to be tied down by royal protocol.

Warwick predicts Kate and William will be “hands-on” parents who follow the example of the Prince's late mother Diana, who was known for her informal parenting style. The Princess of Wales was often seen enjoying low-key trips with William and younger brother Harry, taking them on holiday and to theme parks  as well as walking them to school.

The royal biographer says the parents-to-be will try and give their little one a “free and informal” a childhood as they can, with The Express reporting that Warwick adds:

“William and Harry were very, very fortunate with Diana as a mother because her ideas were so different to the previous generation. The importance of this to her two sons has been enormous. William will want this for his children.”

Kate's own childhood will also influence her mothering style, Warwick predicts: “Her childhood was pretty ordinary. She won’t want her baby to be subject to rules and protocol before they need to be.”

Meanwhile yesterday rumours that the Duchess is about to give birth stepped up a gear as St Mary's Hospital in Paddington, London began it's preparations for the royal birth by suspending parking at the front of the building to ensure access.

The royal is due to give birth in mid July, as confirmed by the Duchess herself during a visit to Scotland in April, though clearly taking every precaution a 25 meter space has now been cleared for the entire period of July, ready for when the hospital becomes the focal point of the world, according to Sky News.

A public notice confirming the suspension was posted up this week, explaining that four parking spaces would become unavailable. This gives the royals access to the hospital at a moments notice, when she does go into labour.
