What did you miss?

Rylan Clark has told how seeing Eamonn Holmes get upset for the first time ever while visiting him was a "wake up call" to how ill he had become.

Former Big Brother presenter Clark, 34, is good friends with Holmes and his wife Ruth Langsford, having appeared alongside them on This Morning when the three stars were all still regulars on the ITV show.

But when he appeared on Tuesday's Loose Women, Clark told Langsford just how much the TV stars' support had meant to him when he hit rock bottom following the breakdown of his marriage.

What, how, and why?

On Tuesday, Clark joined Langsford on Loose Women to speak about his memoir Ten and the new version of it that he has released chronicling his struggles with mental health.

The former X Factor contestant told how seeing GB News star Holmes visibly upset over how ill Clark had become was the first time he had realised how bad things were.

Clark split from husband Dan Neal in 2021 and has spoken openly about his struggles with depression following the breakdown of his marriage, including trying to take his own life.

He spoke to Loose Women about how much his friends Langsford and Holmes had helped him, and told Langsford: "You very kindly wrote a chapter for Ten as well which was just so lovely and your words meant so much to me."

She asked him: "Do you feel stronger mentally now? You talk openly about how you were really mentally struggling."

Clark replied: "Yeah, I was really ill. I want to publicly say thank you to you, Ruth and Eamonn, when I was really, really ill, I didn't want to see anyone.

"My sister-in-law and my mum had arranged for you and Eamonn to come and see me. You saw me, you know.

"I'd never seen Eamonn upset before. So seeing Eamonn upset was almost like a bit of a wake up call, 'God, I'm bad, I'm really bad'."

However, Clark added he was feeling much better, saying: "I'm in a good place and just making my own decisions."

What else happened on Loose Women?

Later in his chat with Loose Women, Clark spoke about his shock that Big Brother was being rebooted - without him as host.

Clark, who won Celebrity Big Brother in 2013 and hosted various versions of the contest as well as spin-off shows, said he had championed the show coming back for years.

He said: "I suppose naively and stupidly to a point, I just thought I've been there nearly seven years, I've got a diary room built in my house, I love the show so much.

"I just sillily presumed I'd be asked back. I knew Emma (Willis) wasn't going back."

Clark admitted: "I could be one of those people saying, 'it was what I wanted' - it wasn't what I wanted, I would have gone back to Big Brother in a heartbeat and it was quite difficult actually because I didn't find out until near on when everyone else found out which I was quite upset about.

"I genuinely hand on heart wish everyone well...but from a personal point of view, I was devastated."

Big Brother will air on ITV2 in October, hosted by AJ Odudu and Will Best.
