Nick Knowles has paid tribute after the death of a “wonderful” young boy who appeared on DIY SOS.

Oliver Hudson – who suffered from hydrocephalus, a build-up of fluid in the brain – appeared on the BBC renovation series with his brothers and dad Darren Hudson in 2019.

The episode aired again this week and afterwards Knowles shared a moving social media post telling viewers that Oliver had died.

“The boys & I @DIYSOS & volunteers send condolences to our friend Darren & his lovely family on the sad passing of wonderful Ollie who is missed & was so loved,” he wrote on Instagram.

“The outpouring of affection toward this family after the broadcast has been humbling.”

The episode showed the DIY SOS team transforming the home shared by Darren, who is battling a degenerative spinal condition, and his sons. Darren’s wife died three years ago.

Many viewers were moved by the family’s story.

“Such sad news, those young boys and their dad have been through so much heartache, I hope they see some sunshine now, what an amazing lovely family,” one fan said on Twitter.
