Nina Dobrev Says She 'Has a Long Road of Recovery Ahead' After Bike Injury

'The Vampire Diaries' actress shared photos of her injury on Instagram on Monday

Nina Dobrev is recovering from a bike accident.

The actress, 35, shared photos of her injuries on Instagram on Monday, May 20.

Dobrev posted two photos on her feed with one of herself on a bike, clad in a black cardigan and white sneakers, prior to the accident. The other one showed her laying in a hospital bed with a brace on her neck and knee, and an IV in her arm.

She wrote in the caption: “how it started vs how it’s going.”

In her Instagram Stories, the Vampire Diaries alum posted a selfie of herself in the hospital bed and a message that read, "I’m ok but it’s going to be a long road of recovery ahead."

She did not disclose any additional details about the accident.

Some of Dobrev’s TVD costars sent their well-wishes in the comments with Kayla Ewell writing, “Making the hospital gown the new spring trend ❤️❤️ love you! Handling it like a champ!” and Claire Holt sharing, “Noooo so sorry! Feel better ❤️❤️❤️.”

Twilight star Ashley Greene commented, “Always going big... 😉 heal fast” and Julianne Hough wrote, “That’s my girl! 🫠 Obviously wouldn’t make jokes if you were not ok…”

Dobrev's longtime boyfriend Shaun White, 35, posted a photo on his Instagram Stories of Dobrev on a private plane after she was released, her leg elevated and her knee in a brace.

The Olympian captioned tagged his girlfriend and add three red hearts to the photo.

While speaking to PEOPLE in 2022, Ewell gushed about Dobrev’s long-term relationship with White, 35, and described the couple as “jokesters."

Dobrev opened up about keeping her relationship fresh in an interview with PEOPLE in January, saying that they “do date night every week.”
