Nominations have been revealed for Burnley's second town centre Customer Service Excellence Awards later this year.

Burnley is preparing to host its second town centre Customer Service Excellence Awards at the historic Mechanics Theatre on Saturday, September 21.

Organised by Burnley Business Improvement District with support from Charter Walk, the awards have been created to recognise and celebrate the great customer service that the town’s retailers, independent businesses, and hospitality venues demonstrate daily.

Throughout April and May, mystery shop visits took place across over 90 different shops, bars, restaurants, and service providers by industry leaders store checkers.

The information gathered during these visits, along with a judging panel featuring the Burnley Council and a public vote, will form the basis for the awards of which there are eight different categories.

Mark Longworth, who works at Bodycare, has been nominated for Employee of the Month.

His nominator said: "Mark has made significant progress since his start earlier in the year. Mark has suffered from a long-term illness (TLE) that prevented him from working for over nine years.

"Consequently, Mark faced a difficult adjustment period while settling into this new role. Despite this, he remained patient and willing to learn, quickly becoming an invaluable member of the team.

"His focus, attention to detail, and commitment to supporting his colleagues have made Bodycare a smoother store to run.

"There has been a noticeable improvement in the store’s presentation, and relationships with regular customers have improved, creating a friendlier and more appealing environment for customers.

"His keen eye has led to a reduction in shoplifting, as he is vigilant to potential threats. We believe that Mark deserves this award not only because he has become one of the most valuable members of the team but also because of the journey he has taken and the challenges he has overcome to become such a skilled employee."
